Subject:Welcome!
Time:09:08 pm
I'm a first time Pennsylvanian Nano'er.  Last year I was an Iowan.  Big changes in my schedule too, so finishing this year will be much more of a challenge.  Good luck to everyone!  :)

Subject:first PA post to forums
Time:09:12 pm
This year you must choose a regional affiliation or several in order to have them appear on the forum index. For PA, you can choose Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, or PA/Elsewhere. I've registered for all three, and have posted an "introduce yourself" on the Elsewhere one. From the contact list, it appears that only Greensburg and central PA have MLs, so is anyone interested in taking on another area?

I've downloaded the icons, but thought the "bunny" was a ghost until I saw its name.

Tomorrow, October 1st, the NaNoWriMo forums will re-open. You'll all need to go there and re-register. While there, be sure to check in at the appropriate PA forums. I'm hoping to get some meet-ups scheduled for the two weekends prior to November 1st, and will base location on where interest is shown.

Oh -- it might not be a bad idea to check back here after you've registered and let us all know your screenname.

Is anyone still monitoring this community?
Is everyone gearing up for this year? *

*silly me -- I posted this to my own LJ first, forgetting to change the posting destination.

A word from your mod, for those who might actually see it...

I am off to college in late August. Why is this of concern to any of you? Because I am going to school in the District of Colombia. Yup. So... who wants to take over this community?

Unless I see some damming proof that you are likely to run this fine community into the ground, mod-ship will go to the first who responds.

Any takers?

Time:10:45 am

Its time to pull out the pen and look for all the flaws made while trying to pump out the 1,667 word a day minimum in November. NaNoEdMo, inspired by NaNoWriMo gives participants a chance to tackle their novel once again, this time trying to edit it in 31 days. The goal – 50 hours of total editing time working on your masterpiece in the month of March. Definatly workable, plus you have all of us crazies right beside you!

I DID IT!!! *does a dance* Okay, it isn't finished finished but I passed the 50k. WOOOOO!!

*falls over.* Okay, my head hurts from staring at the screen so intently all the time.

Here is the final count for up to Chapter 26.

NaNoWriMo Progress Meter

Granted, when I go back and edit, I'll probably going to throw out huge chunks because of the vast amounts of suckiness. Or try to make them better. And I know that I've skimped on some things because at the time, I didn't want to spend another word working on that part. But I did it!!!!!

Now, to go back and read the other NaNos that I know about. Oi.

Yes, I'm still on vacation, but I've taken quite a bit of my time in the car to write, and then transcribed it on my son's computer at 5:00 a.m. before heading out for the day's activities. The result? I validated this evening with 50,147 words. Tomorrow we start back to PA, and I'll still write, but no pressure to get it all typed by Sunday night.

I finally made it to 30 thousand words today... at least now I think I'm a little more on track. I spent almost the entire 2nd week doing nothing. I think that those newsletters that they're sending out are completely right. The "2nd week slump" and the "after 33k the novel sails to the end" parts are dead-on. I thought I'd run out of plot ideas, but now I think I have enough to make it to 50k.

Wow. The effort is unbelievable. But worth it. I tell people I'm writing a 50k novel in a month and their eyes bug out. It's great.

Does anyone think that they're going to edit theirs further after this is over?

It's November 13, and I have officially 20,008 words in my novel. Unlike nanovix, I am not quite so prolific. ;)

However, I churned out 3008 words in an hour and a half, (I started at 17,000) and I think if I can keep up this level of production, I'll actually be able to finish on time. Maybe.

What's everyone's progress? Are you doing okay?

I think that Email that they sent out to everyone was very helpful.

I need some good techno/hard rock bands to help with my writing. I seem to write better in theme with the story if I have my headphones on and playing but I'm running out of what to listen to unless I want to listen to it on a rotation.

Suggestion for anything else to put in? Something mostly fast pace will probably work.

currently, I have Stabbing Westward, NIN, the first Matrix Soundtrack and Disturbed. I'm not sure if Rob Zombie will work yet, I haven't tried it.

I arrived home from work/meetings/RL at close to 10:00 last night. I figured that I was doomed, unable to meet my daily goal, because I can never concetrate in the evening. To my surprise, I added 1000 words, went to bed, and awoke to write more.

This morning: 1395
Total: 24,415

This leaves me feeling very confident and satisfied with my progress -- something I really need at this point. My problem is that I had been looking too much at others and feeling guilty about my participation. There are those on my friends list who are very motivated: I read of their 5000 words for a given day and sigh with a feeling that I'm a slacker. Then there are those who are saying "I found myself crying in front of the computer and realized that I just can't do it": I read their entries and feel guilty when I post my word count. However, I've come to accept that I do this for my own reasons, that I need to post my counts to assure myself that I've done so and to keep me going.

In this, I'll be selfish.

This morning I started writing and encountered no distractions, simply wrote until I finished a chapter, and ran out of time. Hopefully I'll have an equally productive session later today.

On my word count, a note: I added a few words to yesterday's writing. No, it's not editing. I simply remembered in the middle of the night that I had sent my MC off without his shoes. That thought was still with me this morning, so I considered it important enough to add 15 words to the previous chapter.

So far today: 1,331
Total: 16,630

According to my NaNoMeter, I'm 1/3 of the way to the goal!

I wrote 1100+ words yesterday morning, and had intended to reach 2000 that afternoon/evening. Unfortunately, I had a very unproductive time, unable to concentrate. I managed to make it to about 1650 total words for the day, but then gave up. That gave me only 2100 over two days.

However, today went much better. This morning I wrote about 1100 words, and have added to that for a respectable amount.

Today: 2,329
Total: 12,912

Not bad -- I've written 1/4 of the goal.

My car broke down and I used one of the agency's vans to get home. I don't really want to use it for personal use, so I'll be staying home this weekend. Perhaps my writing will benefit!

...but I'm working on catching up today at work and then at home and hopefully tomorrow because my weekend is busy. I calculated.....I should be at 10k today. Right now I'm at the halfway spot so I'm going to be a busy bee to try to catch up.

Oi.

My personal daily goal is 2000 words, set for days like today, when I need to be at work early and have less than my usual morning writing time. However, I managed to start a new chapter, and may even be able to get home early enough to write before all of my usual distractions kick in. If so, I'd like to meet the 10,000 mark -- not completely out of the question, since my after-work writing has been almost 1000 words per day.

This morning: 545 words
Total: 8,894

Okay, so I'm up to 560 words. Still not much, but again, better than nothing. I have my prologue posted in my journal if anyone's interested in reading it. I'm writing a Dawson's Creek fanfic. Not really sure how it'll go, but I'm trying.
